Backcountry Brewfest—Friday, March 6, 5-9 p.m., downtown Spokane

If you love beer and the great outdoors, don’t miss the 1st Annual Backcountry Brewfest that’s making its first appearance in Spokane for one night on Friday, March 6 from 5-9 p.m. The big draw is the beer, of course: the Backcountry Brewfest features selections from over a dozen regional breweries. But you might also want to consider coming for the “backcountry” angle as well. The event is being hosted by the group Backcountry Hunters and Anglers – a unique, conservation oriented, pro-wilderness/backcountry preservation group that shares many values with other non-hunting and fishing backcountry adventure/solitude seekers. These are the guys and gals who hike or ride mountain bikes or horses for miles into remote wildlands to fish or hunt or just enjoy the backcountry. The Brewfest kicks off the first night of the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers national Rendezvous gathering that continues with seminars, speakers and events throughout the weekend.

Breweries featured at the Backcountry Brewfest include: Perry Street, Orlison, English Setter, Paradise Creek, Laughing Dog, Big Barn, Trickster, McDuff’s, Top Frog, Big Sky and others. Enjoy brews with views along with other like-minded backcountry recreation enthusiasts at the Skyline ballroom on the 15th floor of the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, which offers 360° views of downtown Spokane. There will be outdoor gear raffles going on throughout the Brewfest and attendees will have the opportunity to check out vendor tables on the hotel’s first floor. More ticket info and general information is available at www.backcountryhunters.org or call 406-370-4325.
